woman sleeping

Have you ever gone to bed with your make-up on? Well, you are not alone. I must confess that it has happened to me a few times. After a long exhausting day, you fall like a log into bed without thinking of the risks involved.

According to a UK Survey, a third of women go to sleep twice a week without cleansing their face. If done exceptionally, you will not age prematurely, but skipping your daily routine on a regular basis will definitely have effects. Some of the effects can be:

  • Exposure to free radicals in the environment which the make-up clings on to. The free radicals cause the breakdown of healthy collagen
  • Appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Clogged pores
  • Blackheads
  • Acne
  • Dullness
  • Formation of microcomedones (bacteria in your pores)
  • Eye irritation
  • Bacteria can build in your eyes, causing inflammation and conjunctivitis
  • Dryness and chapping of your lips

Sleeping with your make-up on should not be an option. Dedicating just a little time at night to your skincare routine will definitely make a difference on how your skin ages and your overall appearance. It’s always better to prevent than to repair!
